Established in 2017, Plan India Impact Awards (PIIA) celebrate the exemplary work of the frontline workers, community volunteers, and youth leaders who drive real change at the grassroots across India. Over seven successful editions, these Awards have recognized over 100+ individuals and groups across India who work tirelessly to bring services, rights, and hope to the doorsteps of the most underprivileged. These Awards not only honour dedication of the last mile champions, they spotlight exceptional work, innovation, scalable models, and best practices that cumulatively contribute towards India's national development priorities.
This year, Plan India Impact Awards will not stop at just honouring our Last Mile Champions. We will support the winners with grants to implement ideas close to their hearts.
All shortlisted nominees will be asked to present a Dream Idea for a community-driven solution to a local development challenge. PIIA will seek out the best innovative concepts that can provide meaningful, impactful community-driven solutions.
A detailed implementation plan with a clearly defined problem statement, a practical and innovative solution strategy, identification of the target beneficiaries, along with the geographical focus and budget will inform the selection of the winners.
The ideas will be assessed on relevance, innovation, feasibility, potential impact, and community ownership. In addition to recognition of the Last Mile Champions, starting this year, PIIA will empower them to further strengthen the communities they serve. The final Awardees will receive a grant to implement their Dream Ideas in 2- 9 months. They will be invited to the 2026 Plan India Impact Awards to present the results of their work.

Radhika Sen was a compassionate and warm-hearted person. She had the desire to work towards a better, more equal society. The 36-year-old's work was prematurely cut short when she unexpectedly passed away in 2022.
A brilliant graduate of St. Xavier's, Mumbai, she was honoured with the Huzurbazar Award for ranking first in Mumbai University in Mathematics. She received her postgraduate degree from the Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh and was awarded the prestigious National SCOR Actuarial Prize for the best academic paper submitted by students in UK. She qualified as an Actuary from UK and India. Despite her promising career in the insurance industry, Radhika chose to return to India, aiming to make a meaningful impact in her own way. She had diverse passions, including new technology, sports, and helping the underprivileged. She consciously contributed her time and resources to many a cause, particularly children and wildlife. She wanted to do so much more but she ran out of time rather abruptly.
It was in the memory of Radhika Sen's aspirations that the “Digital Champion for Girls' Rights Award” was born. This award stands as a tribute to Radhika's legacy and seeks to further ignite the spirit of advocating for girls' rights in the digital space.
