Varshita Venkatesh, who spent the first 36 years of her life in India, passed away in January 2020 as a Norwegian citizen in Trondheim, Norway. She was 48 years old.

She was veritably an ambassador for the “real India.” She compelled one and all to question the misconceptions they harboured in their minds about Indians and succeeded in putting the real India out there for foreigners to see — all through her goodness and sublime humaneness.

Creating a “Varshita Venkatesh – Sports for Learning Fund”, which would enable girls in India to find the right opportunities for physical education. Venkatesh is looking at focusing on using sports as a medium to encourage learning and breed leadership among the girls in India.

Varshita’s legacy is one of a devoted daughter, caring sister, concerned aunt, loving wife, diligent employee and honest citizen of the world. She will live on, in the dreams of young girls, blessing, healing and educating them, and enabling them to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills needed for survival and success in the 21st century.
