Rutisila is a quaint village located in the Keonjhar district of Odisha. Home to 1080 people, Rutisila is an agricultural village where most of its population relies on rice farming. While a lot of the villagers are tribal people and enjoy singing and dancing, Rutisila’s situation is somewhat grim. Currently, there is only one upper primary school in the village. There is also an Anganwadi centre where children from the ages of 3 to 6 years can go, but the state of the centre is not ideal. Children who strive for secondary and senior secondary education have to walk 5 to 6 kilometres every day, to reach school.

With the support of a partner organization, Plan India has implemented programs in the areas of health, water & sanitation, education, child rights & child protection and livelihood promotion. We have been able to construct a toilet in the Anganwadi centre, two waste disposal ditches and set up a community centre. However, Rutisila needs urgent intervention. While some progress has been made, there is still a long way to go. Rutisila needs a program for holistic development of the village as well as the total wellbeing of the children, their families and communities. Support Rutisila village and help transform the future of hundreds of children.
