SUMMARY OF THE OVERALL JOB

The position is responsible for synergising, coordinating and executing communication and branding activities towards enhancing the recognition and reinforcing the image of the projects. The position is also responsible for overseeing the development of communication content for websites, social media, digital campaigns, donor communication, annual reports, newsletters, advocacy materials, etc. and ensuring that all the communication, internal or external, adheres to brand guidelines.

KEY FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

BRAND & COMMUNICATION STRATEGY & BUDGET

  • To develop and implement internal and external communication, annual strategies to support programme visibility, advocacy, campaign & fundraising initiatives
  • To ensure that project’s communication strategy gets buy in from all stakeholders and is implemented uniformly across all areas of operation
  • To conduct environmental analysis, define communication priorities, and manage budgets for communication initiatives
  • To monitor and report on expenditure, ensuring optimal returns on investments.

BRAND MANAGEMENT AND SCOPING

  • To possess thorough knowledge of and Plan’s and donor’s Brand Guidelines and remain abreast with any changes/ updates to these
  • To serve as the brand custodian for the projects to ensure standardization of designs, formats, audio-visuals, templates themes, communication and publicity material, etc. and lead the improvement of the same
  • To ensure the development of and adherence to processes to monitor compliance of branding norms across operations and ensure that deviations are highlighted and managed
  • To develop and maintain multimedia assets including photo and video documentation to enhance storytelling and programme impact
  • To organise brand trainings with PMU’s state offices, partners and other stakeholders in branding and communication formats
  • To ensure positive and sustainable media and social media coverage through human interest stories reflecting programme achievement
  • To understand and be an advocate, internally and externally, for the values of projects

COMMUNICATION MANAGEMENT & CONTENT DEVELOPMENT ENSURING SAFEGUARDING POLICIES

  • To lead the conceptualization and creation of content for digital, print, and audio-visual materials for all Projects
  • To guide creation of donor communication materials, including reports, newsletters, and case studies
  • To ensure editorial support for high-quality publications, annual reports, and policy papers
  • To guide the planning and execution of Above The Line (ATL) and Below The Line (BTL) campaigns
  • To manage the approval process for communication materials, ensuring adherence to branding and copyright guidelines
  • To oversee the management of projects’ Resource Centre (RC) and ensure that all information related requirements of both internal and external stakeholders are fulfilled in a timely manner
  • To support and supervise the production of advocacy videos, motion graphics, and design coordination with external agencies
  • To maintain donor and Plan India’s Communications Policy, ensuring regular updates and adherence by project staff
  • SOCIAL MEDIA & DIGITAL COMMUNICATION

  • To ensure that the website/ social media is used effectively as an organizational tool and supports the communication needs for all the departments
  • To ensure timely updates on social media platforms, to enhance engagement and visibility
  • To develop and execute a social media strategy, aligned with global messaging, terminology, and branding standards
  • To plan and manage social media content calendar featuring issue-focused and campaign- driven content for projects
  • To monitor and analyse social media performance metrics and suggest improvements
  • To ensure that all digital marketing activities always comply with applicable laws, including compliance with data protection legislation and CP policy
  • To follow-up on new pages and suggest methods to reach the target audience in other ways
  • MEDIA & ADVOCACY ENGAGEMENT

    • To draft, edit and publish press-releases, op-eds, news articles and advocacy messages across media platforms (print, online, radio and television)
    • To establish and maintain relationships with journalists, media houses, and external agencies to increase media coverage

    COORDINATION & NETWORKING

    • To ensure effective coordination with Programme Implementation and Programme Strategy & Policy, and other functions as required for exchange of information and work needs
    • To coordinate with the State Programme Teams for obtaining communication content and photograph needs as required
    • To ensure the capacity building of all Project staff in communication and campaigning work and of the fundraising team in the areas of communication with the donors

    TEAM MANAGEMENT

    • To develop, mentor and support team members in producing quality communication material
    • To resolve team members’ issues and grievances, and take timely actions
    • To conduct performance appraisal of the team members

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Mass Communication with strong editorial skills
    • 10 – 12 years of relevant experience
    • Thematic understanding of gender will be an advantage
    • Proven experience in content development, storytelling and managing multimedia assets
    • An excellent command of both written and spoken English. Fluency in Hindi will be an
    • advantage. Additional knowledge of other Indian languages will be considered an asset.

    • A flair for technology and demonstrated proficiency with online media
    • Proven excellent analytical, problem solving and strategic planning skills
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with high levels of cultural and gender sensitivity
    • Ability to meet deadlines and fulfil urgent requests when needed
    • Strong character traits including self-motivation, emotional adaptability, honesty and willingness to travel are essential
