Plan India initiated its programs in India in 1979.  It began its services in need-based and welfare approach only with sponsored children and their families till 1994. Between 1995 to 2003, Plan India began the Integrated Community Development approach to benefit many children beyond the sponsored children.  During this period, the programs were designed for individual and community development.  In 1996, Plan India was registered as a National Organization.  It has engaged in a big way in the humanitarian sector by responding to the Asian Tsunami in 2005- 2006 and released its first report on “State of the Girl Child in India”. From 2005, the Child Centered Community Development approach was practiced by Plan India which put children at the center of all our actions and decision-making processes.  This has since continued with Plan India incorporating a gender transformative approach to all its programs.

SUMMARY OF THE OVERALL JOB

Plan India is implementing the LINK WOMEN project phase -II in Mumbai and Pune in the state of Maharashtra, Bhopal & Indore in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The project aims to strengthen opportunities for receiving formal education, employability skills and employment of 5000 women and girls from marginalized families in Mumbai, Pune, Bhopal and Indore thereby ensuring their economic and social empowerment. The intervention will conduct training of young women in digital skills, employability skills, capacity building of faculty members, sensitization of stakeholders, parents and awareness in communities, linkages to industry for employment, creating peer networks and finally networking with the LinkedIn platform.

KEY FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Project Officers will work closely with the TRA under the guidance of the Project Lead to ensure the successful implementation of the Project. The Project Officers will ensure that correct data is collected for maintaining the MIS and ensuring all project activities are documented accurately
  • Use the need assessment study conducted in Mumbai/ Pune/ Indore/ Bhopal as base reference document for accessing higher, technical education, employment and entrepreneurship information and training for women and girls.
  • Identify 5000 young girls for training from higher/technical/vocational education institutions- develop criteria for candidate identification, undertaken mobilization and detailed aptitude testing.
  • Organising awareness campaigns and sessions with the support of TRA at every location with parents of young girls to influence behaviour change and create an enabling environment for the girls.
  • Promote Girls Led Network from the 5000 participants
  • Create role models for other women and develop successful case studies through short videos.
  • Conduct beneficiaries’ satisfaction survey under the leadership of project leader to understand how project helped beneficiaries acquire correct information and informed career choices
  • Arrange career guidance and vocational skill development sessions based on the five modules on digital skills with the help of resource persons in educational institutions and communities for young girls.
  • Mapping potential industries, corporates and organize exposure visits for selected girls for internship and work opportunities.
  • Liasoning, networking with stakeholders, industries, academic institutions related to the project’s career guidance on vocational services and initiate process documentation of the project and success stories in respective locations.
  • Ensure Safeguarding policy are followed /adhered during project execution across the project implementation areas.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced university degree in Social Science, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience, with at least 3 years in managing large-scale community development projects.
  • Proven experience in operations, management, and strategic implementation planning Good understanding of project planning and management cycles, with experience in producing high- quality project reports and documentation.
  • Familiarity with relevant government policies, schemes, and guidelines related to community development.
  • Fluency in spoken, reading, and writing English and Hindi is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
