Arti had always watched her father sell toys by the roadside in Delhi. As she was finishing school she had a desire to start her own business, inspired by her father. She wanted to build a legacy from what her father had started.
However, the family’s meagre earnings, and their doubts about her ambition made that vision feel almost impossible.
Then, one day, a step into a Plan India event changed everything.
Enrolling in Plan India’s career counselling service for underprivileged students under project Paramarsh wasn't just about learning business skills for Arti. It was where she found the unwavering support of dedicated facilitators, the practical know-how to navigate the business world, and crucially, the soft skills and the self-belief she needed to truly soar.
With advice and support from the Paramarsh team, Arti was able to borrow desperately needed seed money for her venture from local women’s self help groups.
Today, Arti proudly stands behind the counter of her very own gift and stationery shop. She is the first female business owner in her local market. Her father no longer sells toys by the roadside. He now works with Arti, alongside her brother.
Friends and other young girls seek her out for advise and guidance.
Though successful beyond her family’s imagination, Arti is not stopping here. She is working towards her next goal - studying event management.
You can transform the dreams of other girls like Arti into reality.
