ABOUT PLAN INDIA

Plan India, a registered non-profit organization committed to advancing children’s rights and gender equality, is undertaking a project to enhance infrastructure in three government schools in Varanasi. This initiative aims to create a conducive learning environment for girls, aligning with Plan India’s broader goal of promoting education, health, and well-being for children and youth.

 

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Under the Model School Project in Ramgarh, fully functional computer laboratories have been established in government schools to strengthen digital education. The project aims to ensure that students from Classes 9–12 receive structured, curriculum-based computer education integrated within the school timetable. The initiative focuses on foundational digital literacy while progressively introducing students to digital tools, Artificial Intelligence, and other future-ready skills. The Computer Teacher will work closely with school administration and the project team to ensure effective implementation of computer education, promote digital learning, and contribute to the smooth functioning of the computer laboratory.

The Model School Project has now been expanded through the established community-based Vikas Kendra, which serve as safe learning spaces for adolescents beyond school hours. These Kendra facilitate digital learning, life skills, career guidance, and other project interventions. The Computer Teacher will contribute to the implementation of project activities both within schools and at the Vikas Kendra, ensuring continuity of learning and meaningful engagement with adolescents.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

The Computer Teacher will primarily deliver computer education during school hours. During the remaining working hours, the position holder will support the implementation of project activities at the Vikas Kendra and within the community. This includes facilitating digital learning sessions, supporting project interventions, mobilizing girls for planned activities, coordinating with schools and communities, undertaking home visits where required, and providing technical support for online and offline project activities. The role requires close collaboration with school staff, community stakeholders and the project team to ensure effective implementation of program objectives

1. Classroom Teaching & Learning Delivery

  • Conduct computer education sessions for students from Classes 9–12 as per the approved curriculum and project implementation plan.
  • Deliver engaging, age-appropriate practical and theoretical sessions.
  • Maintain an inclusive, safe and disciplined learning environment.

2. Vikas Kendra & Project Implementation

  • Facilitate digital learning and other project sessions at the Vikas Kendra as per the implementation plan.
  • Support mobilization of girls for Kendra-based learning activities and events.
  • Coordinate with schools, community members and project staff to ensure smooth implementation of project interventions.
  • Provide technical and logistical support for online trainings, workshops, webinars and virtual sessions.
  • Assist in organizing project events, exposure visits, campaigns and community engagement activities.
  • Support monitoring, documentation and reporting of project activities.

3. Academic Planning & Curriculum Implementation

  • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly lesson plans aligned with the curriculum and school calendar.
  • Ensure timely completion of syllabus.
  • Introduce digital literacy, AI and emerging technologies appropriate to students’ learning levels.

4. Assessment & Student Progress Tracking

  • Conduct regular assessments.
  • Maintain student learning records and progress reports.
  • Provide remedial support where required and submit monthly reports.

5. Computer Lab Management

  • Ensure smooth functioning of the computer laboratory.
  • Maintain inventory and report technical issues.
  • Ensure safe and optimum utilization of lab resources.

6. Quality of Learning

  • Adopt innovative teaching methods and digital tools.
  • Support students requiring additional academic assistance.
  • Continuously improve classroom practices and learning resources.

7. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with school administration and teachers.
  • Support project events, workshops and community engagement activities.
  • Conduct regular home visits for girls with irregular attendance to counsel parents and encourage regular participation in school as well as Vikas Kendra activities.
  • Build positive relationships with parents, School teachers and community stakeholders to strengthen girl’s participation.

8. Documentation, Reporting & Compliance

  • Maintain attendance, lesson plans, assessments, lab records and home visit records.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies.

 

EXPECTED OUTCOME

  • Quality computer education delivered to students in accordance with the project curriculum.
  • Effective implementation of digital learning and project interventions at the Vikas Kendra.
  • Increased participation of adolescents in school- and Kendra-based activities.
  • Regular home visits conducted to address absenteeism and improve student retention.
  • Parents and community members actively engaged to promote girls’ education and participation.
  • Timely technical support provided for online and digital project activities.
  • Well-maintained computer laboratory and digital learning resources.
  • Accurate and timely submission of project reports and documentation.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Computer Science, IT or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience in computer education.
  • Experience working with schools or education projects preferred.
  • Knowledge of digital tools, coding and emerging technologies preferred.
  • Fluency in Hindi; working knowledge of English preferred.
