Duration: 31st December 2028
Travel Requirements: 70% of total time.

Level of Contact with Children: 1 (Direct contact with children/youth)
The position holder shall be responsible to adhere & work within the ambit of Plan India’s Safeguarding Policy & Gender Equality Policy

 

ABOUT PLAN INDIA

Plan India, a registered non-profit organization committed to advancing children’s rights and gender equality, is undertaking a project to enhance infrastructure in three government schools in Varanasi. This initiative aims to create a conducive learning environment for girls, aligning with Plan India’s broader goal of promoting education, health, and well-being for children and youth.

 

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Comprehensive School Improvement Program-Model School Project targets the enhancement of existing facilities and the creation of new infrastructure to support a joyful learning environment. The project will help schools maintain the basic infrastructure and amenities at schools necessary for an enabling environment for joyful learning.

Objectives of project: To promote a child-friendly learning environment for children from underprivileged communities and with special needs. The specific objectives to achieve this are –

  1. a) To develop the required infrastructure for a joyful learning environment for girls in three Government Schools of Varanasi;
  2. b) To develop school-based mechanisms, by strengthening Children’s Clubs and School Management Committees to ensure proper utilization and sustainability of the developed infrastructure of the targeted three schools.
  3. c) To increase awareness among Children and Parents and empower them to attain their Legal Rights, Right to Education, Digital literacy, Child Protection etc.

The project will directly benefit over 2000 Children in the three government Schools.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Engagement and Outreach:

  • Implement outreach strategies as per project guidelines through regular field visits, door-to-door interactions, community meetings, and awareness campaigns.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, members, and stakeholders, and mobilize community members to attend workshops and sessions.
  • Develop and strengthen linkages with community-based organizations (CBOs) to support collaboration and community participation.

Facilitating Sessions:

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating community and school-based sessions, workshops, and training programs.
  • Take follow-up sessions in schools to reinforce learning and program objectives.
  • Ensure logistical arrangements, including venues, materials, and participant coordination.
  • Facilitate discussions and activities to ensure active participation and engagement.

School Support and Data Collection:

  • Support ongoing activities in schools under the project, in coordination with the project team.
  • Collect baseline and endline data, attendance, and other relevant school records.
  • Coordinate with teachers and school staff to monitor progress and address gaps.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of community mobilization, school activities, and participant engagement.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on outreach efforts, school support, challenges, and outcomes to the line manager.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 12th pass
  • Relevant experience of 3-5 years in community mobilization, development work, or a related role.

 

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong community mobilization, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community members, schools, and local partners.
  • Good planning, coordination, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in data collection, documentation, and report writing.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
