OVERVIEW
Plan India implements three major programmes funded by Reckitt India, namely, Dettol School Hygiene Education Programme, The Birds and Bees Talk and Reach Each Child. Together the programmes cover 12 major states of India and reach 15 million individuals.
Through Dettol School Hygiene Education Program in Uttarakhand, we aim to reach out to 5 million kids, 13000 schools in 13 districts with interventions focusing on innovation and renovation by inculcating hygiene culture among kids.
Some of the activities that come under the purview of the role are:
Curating model climate resilience schools for the state of Uttarakhand in alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its replication to promote best practices in the state.
Working towards finding new and innovative ways to inculcate sustainable hygiene culture in the children of the state.
Working closely with colleagues and partners to educate and inform them on the new initiatives and how they will impact the beneficiaries.
Preparing advocacy decks and project reports for updates of Government.
Developing, implementing, monitoring and analyzing state plans and strategies for scaling up.
Supporting state implementation team in matching timelines and preparing progress reports.
Preparing and sharing the quarterly advocacy plans.
Designing research and evidence-based interventions for climate, health and hygiene.
KEY FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the delivery of a long-term strategy focused on Reckitt’s and PLAN’s deep commitment and investments in protecting the integrity
Counsel cross-functional partners on communication considerations in relation to project changes, product updates and other regional announcements.
Distil complex policy concepts into plain language for press, policymakers and the general public
Update all communications and advocacy tools to ensure the assets meet PLAN network, Reckitt guidelines, program objectives and standards.
Write/publish news releases in the newsletters, e-mail newsletters or website.
Disseminate success stories of the programme through documentations and narration of field stories and annual reports.
Identify capacity-building requirements of the State implementation team and facilitate developing of tailor-made sessions based on their needs and priorities.
Demonstrate a keen interest in performing and utilizing research to guide the development of programs and influence policy decisions.
Keeping abreast with trends and narratives in intersection of climate resilience, public health, and educational outreach to effectively integrate relevant strategies into program objectives.
Exhibiting respect and appreciation for cultural diversity and a willingness to tailor program strategies to the unique cultural contexts of different communities, ensuring inclusivity and effectiveness.
Indicating an interest in advocating for policies at the local, national, and international levels that support program initiatives.
Support the rollout of climate resilience mainstreaming in ongoing and and forthcoming projects within the state portfolio.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in Environmental studies, Ecology, Wildlife Science/ PhD.
Proven experience of minimum 5 years in developing and implementing environmental education programs or similar educational initiatives with school children is highly desirable
Familiarity with the local environmental context and challenges, as well as global environmental concerns.
Ability to design age-appropriate and interactive environmental education curriculum and materials by incorporating experiential learning methods for different grade levels.
Genuine enthusiasm for environmental education and a commitment to inspire and instill a sense of environmental responsibility in young minds.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, to effectively convey environmental concepts to children, teachers, and other stakeholders.
