• Highlights: The first batch of 317 adolescent girls trained on self-defence and got certified by Parivartan Cell of Delhi Police.

  • Highlights: Plan reaches more than 89,078 girls and 93,167 through its projects and programmes in Delhi.

Support My School Project

Plan India has upgraded water and sanitation facilities in 20 government schools as part of the Coca-Cola NDTV Support my School campaign. Five major components were taken up in the project.

  • Upgradation of existing water and sanitation facilities in government schools.
  • Provision of drinking water facility.
  • Construction/renovation of rainwater harvesting structures.
  • Improving greenery in the schools through plantation.
  • Promoting sports and games for all round development of children's potential.

Apart from the above, the project also creates awareness among children, school authorities and SMCs to maintain the infrastructure upgraded for a clean and hygienic environment in the schools.

Setting up of science labs and libraries

Plan India has supported four government high schools by setting up science labs and eight government primary schools with libraries in Hyderabad. This project is implemented as part of the improving quality education in government schools through activity based learning. Through this project, 1,803 children in primary schools have accessed and benefitted through libraries and 765 children are able to learn science experiments. Through advocacy efforts the science labs were inaugurated by Honourable Union Minister for Employment and Labour, Sri. Bandaru Dattareya.

Addressing the issue of child labour

Plan India initiated an intervention to strengthen prevention, prosecution and protection services for children at risk of or subjected to trafficking for labour in 10 districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The overall project goal is to prevent, protect and rehabilitate under 14 yrs girls and boys who are at risk of or subjected to trafficking for labour.

Key achievements:

  • Children rescued and prevented from labour – 13,841 (7,012 child labourers and 6,829 children vulnerable to labour).
  • Identified and rehabilitated 21,145 out of school children through 515 school enrolment drives.
  • Enrolled 22,534 children into school (child labour, children vulnerable to labour and out of school children).
  • Established and strengthened 1,197 community level child protection structures (625 child forums and 572 community level CPCs).
