Promoting sustainable Sanitation in rural india Gopalganj & West Champaran

Adopting a multi-pronged, community led approach to create a sustainable sanitation demand in the district of West Champaran and Gopalganj district.

Objective

  • Attain ODF villages through supporting the poor and marginalized communities and providing access to sustainable sanitation services.
  • Develop capacity for sustainable promotion of improved sanitation and hygiene.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning for adoption of improved hygiene behaviour among all stakeholders.

Key achievements

Within one year of our intervention, 12 villages from Gopalganj and 10 villages from West Champaran district have been declared as ODF by the government. Efforts are on to achieve more than 100 ODF villages by end of this financial year.
